I like receiving gifts! That is an understatement. I REALLY like receiving gifts. But, I like to give gifts as well. God likes to give gifts even more than I do. Mothers are gifts. My mother is a good and nearly perfect gift, and next to salvation – she is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received.
Every good and perfect gift comes down from God… James 1:17
Mothers are often overlooked, taken for granted, misused and abused. But, EVERYONE (for the most part) celebrates their mothers on Mother’s Day, despite how they’ve treated their mothers the rest of the year. We should celebrate and show love to our mothers every day of the year.
As I was thinking about mothers and motherhood, I began to develop a list of qualities/characterisitcs of real mothers.
A REAL mother:
- Fears God
- Loves unconditionally
- Prays for her children
- Chastises her children
- Sacrifices (time and money)
- The list goes on.
The list could go on. As you know, being a real mother takes a lot of hard work. My mother is a REAL mother. She is all of the above. PLus, she is insightful, graceful, intelligent and kind. I want to be just like her when I grow up. 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day!
Love, peave and blessings!
P.S. Two of my friends are pregnant, 1 with her first child. I wish both of them a very happy Mother’s Day.
P.P.S. I have a new recipe – homemade syrup! I can’t wait to make it for guests. Today at church, the men cooked breakfast for the ladies, and one of the men made syrup that had me quite happy on the inside! 🙂
