Men’s Day Affirmation

Today is Men’s Day at my church.  My daddy asked me to write something, so I came up with this affirmation. I actually wrote this last week as I was working on Sunday’s post. But, I didn’t want to publish it and spoil service for the members who read my blog.

MY BROTHERS’ KEEPER

When God asked Cain about Abel, Cain asked God if he was his brother’s keeper. Cain was talking about his biological brother.  But, as Christians, our brothers are our neighbors, cousins, nephews, church members and all of humanity.  If God were to ask you if you were your brothers’ keeper, would you be able to honestly say that you are your brothers’ keeper?

LEADER:  Will you love your brother as you love yourself?
CONGREGATION:  I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you love and not judge?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you bear his burdens?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you share his joys?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you teach him right from wrong?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you lead by example and help reach his full potential?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you treat him the way you want to be treated?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you be a man of my word?
CONGREGATIONI will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

LEADER: Will you help reach and teach the lost?
CONGREGATION: I will, I am my brothers’ keeper.

Peace and blessings!
