A Purpose-Filled Journey

God has great plans for us. But, you probably already know that. It’s the final destination or what some of us consider to be our purpose that has many of us confused. But, I am learning that I am discovering my purpose … Continue reading

Prayers of Faith

PRAYERS

This month, my pastor is doing a series on Prayer. Since it was announced that we would be focusing on prayer during worship services and bible studies, I have been thinking a lot about prayer and what makes our prayers effective. And one thing that keeps resurfacing during my meditation time is FAITH.  That led me to wonder how a “regular prayer” is different from a prayer of faith.
Verses on which to meditate:.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Mark 11: 24
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Matthew 21:22
Before I forget, if you are in the Atlanta Area and want to hear an awesome word, from an anointed man of God, I invite you to to come visit us this Sunday.

In my life, here is what I have learned about faith:
– Faith gives you supernatural confidence.
– When we take a leap of faith with God, we have everything to gain (and nothing to lose but fear.)
– Faith allows us to believe that God has a plan for our life.
– .Faith allows us to genuinely believe that ALL things work together for our good.
– Faith allows us to be genuinely happy for the achievements of our family and friends because we know that if God is blessing them, He most certainly can and will bless us.
– Faith reassures us that in our loneliness, God is enough.
– Faith calms us despite discouragement and anxiety.
– Faith allows us to pursue our respective purposes with reckless abandon even when we can’t see where we are headed.
Additional Verses on Which to Meditate:
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
James 1:6
Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Hebrews 11:6 (I’d really just recommend reading the entirety of Hebrews 11. It’s all about FAITH!!
Knowing what I know about faith and about prayer, here are my tips:
1) Always Pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17) – Remain in constant communion with God.
2) Don’t Lose Heart (Luke 18:1) – Persevere; you already have the victory.
3) Give Thanks in All Circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18) – Praise God for His goodness.
I pray that your prayers shift from “regular prayers” to prayers of faith. Remember, God is not a man that He should lie, not a human being that he should change His mind. He will do just what he said!
A Prayer For You:

Dear Father, I thank you for each reader of this post. I pray that each reader will have full faith and full trust in You. I know that if we abide in you, you will abide in us. And that if you abide in us, we will fulfill our respective purposes and live blessed lives. Grant us the desire to spend time in your word and in your presence. Increase our faith so that we are comfortable coming boldly to your throne. Increase our faith such that we pray prayers of faith and know that what we ask will be done. We know that you are a God who is able to do more than we could ever ask, think or imagine. For that, we are thankful. Amen.

Peace,

P.S. I’ve been away for so long because, well, life happens. But, in large part, because I am building a law practice. I entered private practice with my dad in January of this year. It is definitely an experience. But, I would’t trade it for anything. If you need a great lawyer or two, give us a call. If you’re in Northeast Georgia, call our Elberton Office at 706.283.9732.
